We offer the quick and cheap proof reading of books and novels, essays and short stories, and with a quick turnaround of 1-2 weeks. We are native British proof readers, and offer great rates, typically ($300-$500) 200-400 GBP for a 80k novel edited, Paypal payments accepted. Sample required for a firm proof reading quote, please email us that sample when asking for a quote.
Cheap proof reading, for the USA, UK, Canada, New Zealand, Australia...
If you have an essay or novel that you have finished (or part completed), and you are seeking proof reading assistance, then please get in touch - our rates are great. Our experienced team of editors can offer to proof read your novel, to review it, or even to enhance it for you, all done at very reasonable rates and within an agreed timescale.
Note. Our editors are British, but US spellings and slang are not an issue.
GoodWritingHelp.com - academic helper
A typical 80k novel can be proof-read for just ($300-$500) 200-400 GBP, and would include typos, spelling, word swaps, grammar and flow, constructs, plot and character. Errors would be highlighted in red, things for you to look at in green, comments inserted. A technical book may be quoted at a higher rate, or a novel where you wish us to check dates, historical names and technical facts.
For a firm quote, and a timescale to proof read a work, please send either a sample or the whole document to the email address given on the contact page, it will handle large attachments. We will get back to you within 24 hrs typically.
We don't judge
If you have written a book, and know that the English is terrible, don't worry, we will fix it as best as possible without being judgemental. We edit amateur books every week. You will learn and grow as a writer by seeing what we alter.
What’s involved in a proof read?
A proof read involves a careful and thorough read through by us of your story. Where we find a fault and make a correction it will appear in red, with the original word next to it crossed out, e.g. they’re their. It will always be easy to see the corrections. If we find a word or sentence that does not seem to make sense, but that is not a definite error, we will highlight it in green. You then need to check it and re-word it.
We will also make comments on history, geography, and technical points where we know that we are right and where you may be incorrect. We do not, however, offer to correct such technical items within an edit, we will do so as and when we see fit – and if we know the answers.
We will always comment on characters and on the plot, and will point out plot errors, e.g. at the start of the story the car being used by the hero was red, at the end it is suddenly blue. If someone is killed at the start and then appears later on, we will mention it, all part of the service. But we will not write a thousand words on the plot or on the characters, we will simply highlight what stood out to us.
NOTE. After an proof read, your book will be much better, with the technical errors fixed, but it may not be perfect, and we will not alter all types of bad grammar if that grammar could be argued to be your personal style or slang. A great many amateur eBooks have a writing style and level of grammar that is below that of a published paperback, but they still go on to sell well. Your eBook does not need to be perfect, or sound like it was written by an 18th century English teacher, in order to sell. We do not guarantee to find every mistake given the budget and timescale. Large editing companies may offer such a service for $3,000 plus. Cheap proof reading...
Pride can be a problem
We receive around 3 enquiries a day on average, and 3 proof reading samples to look at, our comments about the samples not always well taken. If you blindly believe your novel to be the best thing since writing began ... then please don't waste our time.
You are reading this because you know that your novel needs work, but some writers ask us to sign a non disclosure agreement - and we turn them away. Getting a novel published is very hard, and its hard to make a living from writing, and that's if you wrote the book, let alone if you stole it from someone else.
No one ... is interested in stealing your unedited novel, certainly not us. Sometimes, when we find fault and make comments, we receive emails that complain "How dare you, my book is superb!" If you think your book is destined to be the next best seller, please don't bother us. We are hard working editors, and we see three novels a week, none of which are going to be the next best seller - even though we hope they might.
If your story involves gay sex, warn us first. We do not generally edit books containing gay sex or weird sex.
We can offer to critique a novel, manuscript or short story for great rates, and suggest improvements. Your book could be critiqued by experienced writers, not old English teachers who've never published anything. Cheap critique, cheap proof reading.
Overseas writers and foreign university students
If you have prepared a thesis or dissertation for your exams then we can correct the English grammar at great rates - by native British writers/editors, payment made easy via Paypal. We can also take a novel, written by a person who does not speak English as their first language, and edit the work, we can even enhance the English for them. Copyright remains with the writer of course.
Book promotion services
We can help you to promote your eBook/novel or paper book through links on eBook websites, and can boost your websites search engine exposure. Ask for details.
